About Floraโฆ
Our family sadly lost our beloved matriarch, Flora Mae Robinson, on April 6, 2023, at the age of 89.
Flora was the fourth child born to Samuel Robinson and Laura B. Taylor in Shreveport, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at a young age and began her spiritual journey at St. Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Simmons.
She attended Booker T. Washington in Shreveport, where she played basketball and sang in the school choir. Around 1955, Flora relocated to Los Angeles, California, to be closer to her mother and later continued her education in nursing. This move marked the beginning of the large, loving family that brought her so much joy.
In 1959, Flora joined Messiah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Whalen S. Jones. She faithfully served in the Mission Choir and on the kitchen committee, always finding joy in serving God and others until her health no longer allowed.
Flora was known for her incredible cooking, especially her soul food and BBQ dishes, including turkey wings, black-eyed peas, greens, cornbread, cheeseburgers, and her beloved Louisiana fish fry Fridays. Later in life, she embraced technology and enjoyed playing games like Solitaire, Dominoes, and her favorite, Backgammon.
She also loved watching court shows, game shows, and Black entertainment. Flora was beautiful, loving, comforting, and deeply devoted to her family. Her selflessness, faith, and generosity were the foundation of our family and the glue that held us together.
Flora Mae Robinson taught us the true meaning of love, kinship, and commitment. Her legacy will live on through the generations she nurtured, the lives she touched, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to danceโฆ

We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.โ
